Then the shocking news reached him that forces dispatched by General Brock had taken Mackinaw (17 July 1812). That he volunteered at Falmouth, Pendleton County, Kentucky on the 11th day of Feburary 1814 and was mustered into service at Newport, Kentucky on the 13th of the same month and year for the term of three months and continued in the service for that length of time being engaged the whole time in guarding British Prisoners at Newport Kentucky and was entitled as he believes to an honorable discharge and actually obtained one but entrusted the keeping of the same to a friend who has long since died and he knows not what has become of his discharge.

William Hull (1753-1825) was an American soldier and politician. In 1776 he entered into His Majesty's Service under Governor Hamilton at Fort Detroit. Pigs, sheep, apples, and even honey would disappear upon their arrival.58 Women were not expected to fight in the war, but many participated in the support networks that surrounded every army camp. “In the United States and Canada,” writes Hickey, “women fed and nursed soldiers and civilians who participated in the war, managed businesses and farms when their men were gone. . . and in general performed a number of support services that were vital to the war effort.” Those tasks included “cooking, sewing, washing, cleaning, nursing, and hauling food and water to the front lines.” On occasion, women also took part in the fighting.

Part of his force was defeated by British General Henry Proctor at Frenchtown on January 22nd. Once Napoleon was safely under lock and key, an expeditionary force was sent, and this was quite an interesting lot. The company was discharged at Fort Norfolk; the men apparently then walked home. Aside from the shortage new people or are bound and less capable. It provides the names of nearly 600,000 men.
